Resulting the combat to got overly simplified to a basic level with instead of having regular fighting control like the other Tekken beat' em up modes, now it's just generic hack'n slash style control.

First time where the final boss isn't playable (it can be understandable due to how overpowered he is.For the first Tekken game to have character customization, it was somewhat limited as some characters only have a few items to choose from.Introduces Jinpachi, one of the hardest and the most cheapest bosses in the Tekken series.All of the characters are unlocked from the start, though this may not please some players who spent a bunch of time on the original version of the game unlocking them in the first place.Increased the amount of rankings in the game.Which was just as good, if not better than the original.

And not to mention you can change the stages back to the Tekken 5 version (PS3 only) which increase the variety of the stages. And it's now set on the nightime instead of sunset. For the example stage like City of Sunset now has been changed to City Lights. Some stage from Tekken 5 has completly altered, with stages having different color, texture and music. More customizable features than the original version. It's the first Tekken game to allow Online Multiplayer. This game resolves alot of balancing issues that Tekken 5 had. And he was redone to become a bit more easier to battle with. Some changes, Jinpachi is now a lava monster instead of a crystal monster like in the original. 3 New Characters have been added such as Lili, Sergei Dragunov, and Armor King. Awesome soundtrack, that ranging from a calmy, fun music, (Poolside, Waterfall) to straight up melodic metal. (Some have sad moments, such as Wang's ending) Introduces rankings where each character has ranks that can go higher or lower depending on how you play. You can play the older Tekken Games (Tekken 1, 2, and 3) as well as Starblade (has to be unlocked in Devil Within mode) as this game is also a Arcade Emulator. (with several having some exception due to background reason) Lots of characters speak now speak their native language. Devil Jin is finally playable instead of being exclusive to Jin's cutscenes, that being said, they're both different characters (same person but different character slots). ie: xiaoyu vs jin, heihachi vs kazuya etc. Story mode has improved, with everyone having interludes if the player character face opponent that they know. The roster has notably got improved as well, as Tekken 5 has 33 Characters in total with a lot of returning ones. A few new characters, such as Asuka, Feng Wei, Raven, Devil Jin, and Roger Jr. This game is the first Tekken game to allow character customization. The graphics also had been improved, and it looks great for PlayStation 2 standards. For example, moves with crouching properties, such as Snake Edge, will be completely Invulnerable during most of its animation time to all of an opponent high attacks. This game introduce Crush System which affects vulnerability of a character while they attacking. while refining some of the mechanics of that game (juggles, walls, etc) #JIN TEKKEN 5 SERIES#
The gameplay was massive improvement over Tekken 4 which make the series return to it's roots by reverted the movement back to 2.5D movement instead of Dead or Alive-esque movement, removing the bad mechanics such as pillars, uneven ground and wall tech.
